JIRA menu item does not appear in the MS Project menu

Q: Why does not the JIRA menu item appear in the MS Project menu?

A: There are a number of reasons why it may happen.

  • Make sure that the bitness of your MS Project is the same as the bitness of the installed Ceptah Bridge package. If you are using MS Project 2000, 2003, 2007 or 2010 (32 bit), the 32-bit Ceptah Bridge package needs to be installed. For MS Project 2010 (64 bit) use the 64-bit Ceptah Bridge package. If the bitness does not match, uninstall the product and install it using the right installer.
  • Antivirus software may prevent the product from being installed correctly. Check the C:\Program Files\Ceptah\Msp JIRA Bridge folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Ceptah\Msp JIRA Bridge on Windows 64 bit). There should be more than 30 files in the directory. If there are no files or only a few, disable the antivirus, uninstall the product, install it again and then turn the antivirus on.
  • The add-in can be disabled. To check its status, do the following:
    • MS Project 2010/2013: click File > Options > Add-ins
    • MS Project 2003/2007:
      1. If the COM Add-Ins command already appears on the Tools menu, skip to step 6.
      2. On the Tools menu, point to Customize, and then click Toolbars.
      3. Click the Commands tab, and then click Tools in the Categories list.
      4. Drag COM Add-Ins from the Commands box to the word Tools on the menu bar. When the Tools menu appears, point to where you want the COM Add-Ins command to appear on the menu, and then release the mouse button.
      5. In the Customize dialog box, click Close.
      6. On the Tools menu, click COM Add-Ins.
  • If you use a Bridge version prior to 1.2.26, uninstall it, download the latest version and install it. The earlier versions have compatibility issues with Microsoft.NET framework 4.0.
